FAQ
What is the cost of lessons and how long/how often are they?
Lessons are typically 30 minutes once a week. The tuition rate for one 30-minute lesson is $35; hour-long lessons are available to students aged 13 years and older for $70.
Is the lesson price negotiable? What if I want a 45-minute lesson?
No. Lessons are scheduled in 30-minute blocks (see above).
Can my children share a lesson time for $35?
No, each student should have their own 30-minute lesson time to get the adequate guidance and individual attention they deserve while learning.
Can I register my 5-year-old for lessons?
I take students no younger than 8 years for piano or piano/voice combination only; students younger than age 10 may be evaluated for voice or other instrumental lessons. Evaluations are charged $35, the same as a 30-minute lesson.
Will you come to my house to teach?
No; however, lessons can be conducted online (see below).
Can you call me every week to remind me that I have a lesson?
No; if you miss your scheduled lesson twice in a row without notice, you will lose your spot on the roster, so please be sure to set up a reminder in your calendar and let me know ahead of time if you cannot make it to your lesson.
I have an idea/lyrics for a song, can you write it for me?
No, but I can teach you how to write it on your own through composition and musicianship lessons.
Do you offer online lessons?
Generally yes, with a few exceptions. Students who are brand-new to their instrument are encouraged to take a few in-person lessons to learn to assemble and care for their instrument, proper playing posture, and how to produce a good sound, before switching to all-online. Voice students are encouraged to do primarily in-person lessons since much of the repertoire requires an accompanist.
